MARRIAGE
“A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh.”
MARK 10:7-8
In a sacramental marriage, God’s love becomes present to the spouses in their total union and also flows through them to their family and community. The sacrament of Christian marriage involves their entire life as they journey together and become more able to give to and receive from each other. Their life becomes sacramental to the extent that the couple cooperates with God’s action in their life and sees themselves as living “in Christ” and Christ living and acting in their relationship, attitudes, and actions.

GETTING MARRIED AT OUR PARISH
Basic Requirements
-
The Archdiocese requires a minimum eight-month preparation period before the wedding.
-
For marrying a second time, be aware that time must be given for a possible annulment procedure. Archdiocesan law prohibits the scheduling of a wedding until the annulment process is complete and an affirmative decision has been given.
Preliminary Prep
-
The couple should schedule an appointment with the priest or deacon who is responsible for marriage preparation for an initial interview. Afterward, the couple may schedule their wedding date.
-
The Office Manager will schedule a time for the couple to take the FOCCUS (Facilitating Open Couple Communications, Understanding and Study) inventory, and set up times to discuss the results. Designated married couples who assist in the marriage preparation program may facilitate this.
