On Friday, February 5th, beginning at 5:00 pm, we will pray the Holy Rosary and the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. At 5:30 pm, we will have an ad orientem Mass in Latin (the readings and collects will be in English). I invite you to join me in the church each month as we consecrate our families to the loving heart of our Lord Jesus.
The Adult Bible Study with Fr. Hilton starts again, after the long Christmas break. We will take up our study of God’s word on Thursday, February 4th at 6:30 pm in the convent basement. The Bible guides us on the great journey of salvation and we walk step by step with our Lord as He wins victory over sin and death. I find that during our Thursday evening encounters I continue to deepen my knowledge of Sacred Scripture; I always discover something new in the words that I have read so many times before; my love for the Good God deepens; and I enjoy the exchange and the fellowship between all those who attend our meetings. Come and join in!

Have you noticed that when we see photos of old village women in Southern and Eastern Europe it looks as though they all wear the same uniform? Longish black dresses, ankle-length black skirts with white blouses and gray/white hair, also long, gathered up in buns of different styles.
Have you considered giving your child or grandchild the gift of a Catholic education? New enrollments start soon, so I encourage you to give a call to the school office for more information.

Then, when we realize what a great gift the priesthood is, we will thank the Giver of such a precious gift.
On July 25, 1968, Pope Paul VI published a long-anticipated and very controversial Encyclical: Humanae Vitae (On Human Life). At the time, the Church looked at the meaning of human sexuality, particularly the morality of artificial contraception, in light of scientific developments that had successfully separated the sexual act from procreation. After much discussion, at times heated, theologians disagreed. The Holy Father, carefully sifting all the relevant information guided by the Holy Spirit, strengthened by his payer life and conscious of his God-given duty to guide the Church according to His will, decided on the side of life. He was immediately scorned and vilified. Almost 42 years later we know that Paul VI saw the future with divine insight. The Encyclical starts with the Christian vision of marriage:
