Both the RSS and twitter feeds have been down since last nights release. I apologize to anyone trying to access them. RSS feed via Feedburner is back up now and twitterfeed should start feeding twitter again in the next hour or so. I have updated my release steps document so hopefully this won’t happen again in the future.
On tap for this content heavy release are static pages for Hispanic Ministries (FYI – many thanks to Tere Chichester for stepping up to this tough task), Youth Prayer Request email form, twitter feed, and a tag cloud.

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church Respect Life Committee is sponsoring “A Prayerful Presence” and Rosary for the North Deanery of the Archdiocese of Denver May 2, 2009. It will start at Assumption Church with Mass at 8:30 am with the Secular Order of the Servants of Mary and Fr. Gabriel Ramacciotti. We will then meet at Planned Parenthood at 38th and Pontiac. We plan for the Rosary to begin at 9:30 am. Directions will be at the Church.
The Northern Deaneries Pastors, Vicars, and Deacons are being asked to lead the rosary and for all of Denver to join us. There is to be only a prayerful presence for the pleas of the sanctity of life from conception to natural death. Please plan to attend in the beautiful recitation of the Rosary in our Lady’s Month of May for Life Issues. Please invite family and friends.
This is as close as you can come to a major over haul and still call it a minor release. Where to begin? Menu system may look about the same but I have overhauled the internals and it’s now strictly a one level category system. The concept of a bulletin category no longer exists as I felt it was superfluous. Instead, content from the bulletin posted to the front page is tagged – you can reach the tags from the post header data area below the author name. By dropping the bulletin category we get a cleaner category system and for oddball cases like this post use tags. I’ll add a tag cloud to the sidebar in the future. A user friendly breadcrumb now lives just below the secondary menu.

Religious Education registration forms for 2009-2010 are now being accepted. Please, pick one up at the Church after Mass this weekend or print it out online and bring it to the Church Rectory.
As promised I have updated the header and added a decent looking splash image that will rotate every so often. Bonus to anyone who can ascertain which Catholic concept underlies the rotation of the three images (hint: it should be four images, but I don’t have a suitable fourth presently). Also, a handful of other changes the most notable being the increase in font size of the secondary menu. All of the school content is now in place and the church portion is being worked on steadily (e.g., Eucharistic Adoration is now complete). If you see any problems or find bugs please leave a comment so I can log it and fix.
This weekend, over 120 children at Holy Trinity are receiving their First Holy Communion. This is a powerful sign that the future of the Church and of our parish is bright; God is raising up a new generation of Catholic leaders strengthened and made holy by the Eucharistic Lord Jesus!
Parents and catechists have been working hard all year to prepare them. Receiving Holy Communion is the greatest privilege that the Lord has given us. The Eucharist gives us the strength to live as Christians in the most difficult circumstances. It is always good to remind ourselves what a great gift it is to receive the Body of Christ, and what the duties are for those to receive Holy Communion at Mass:
Next weekend is Announcement Sunday for the Archbishop’s Catholic Appeal. Each year, the families of our parish make pledges to Archbishop Caput for the work of the Church in Northern Colorado in union with our sister parishes across the Archdiocese. At the Masses next weekend, Fr. Lorenzo and I will announce this vital campaign and ask you to be as generous as you are able. This appeal represents a real financial sacrifice for each of us, yet the ACA is our opportunity to show our love and support for Archbishop Charles and the ministry done by the Archdiocese in our name. The ACA goal for this year is $8.2 million Archdiocesan-wide, and our parish share of this goal for 2009 is $110,000. Fr. Lorenzo and I thank you for your generosity!
On Mother’s Day we will place upon the altar the names of your mothers, living and deceased, and commend them to the Lord Jesus. How do you place your mother’s name on the altar? Easy. A Mother’s Day offering envelope is attached to the bulletin that you’re holding in your hand, just fill out the envelope, return it to us by Friday, May 9th, and we’ll place it on the altar for the remainder of the month of May. Also, the parish has printed beautiful greeting cards for you to send to your mother, telling her that she will be remembered in our Masses here at Holy Trinity. These are available now at the parish office and will be available at the church entrances the weekends of April 25-26 and May 2-3 for $1.00 each.
