It’s Tough Times: Rejoice!

No matter what anyone says, most of us are afraid of the unknown. Isn’t that why we save for the future and buy all sorts of insurance policies? One for our life, another for the car (besides, the state requires it), a third one for the house (our mortgage lender demands it!); we even purchase service contracts to avoid the cost of replacing or repairing our appliances. Then, when the world around us seems to be spinning out of control, we really start to worry that even after all our preparations we will not be ready for … the unknown. I tend to be one of those folks. When fear of the future strikes, I pray; I tell myself that I am silly to worry; that God is in charge; that I should have more faith. Finally, I grab one of my favorites lives of Saints books, and I settle down.

Making a Spiritual Communion

To receive our Lord Jesus in Holy Communion is the high point of our Catholic life and is the moment in which we experience the most intimate union with our Divine Savior that is possible in this life.

Prayer for Priests

As you probably remember, our Holy Father declared 2009-10 to be the Year for Priests. Fr. Carlos and I love being your priests and firmly believe that one of God’s greatest blessings to us has been to place us in service to Holy Trinity Parish. All priests rely upon your prayers. The Archdiocese of Denver has printed a beautiful prayer card and they are available in the church entrance for you to take home. If we run out, here is the prayer for your use:

School Resumes August 24th

I feel strongly that once again our school is in a great position to excel in every way this year.

Thank You for a Wonderful Fun Fest

I’ve said more than once that I have never seen a greater involvement of volunteers in a parish as I have seen at Holy Trinity. The generosity of our folks, young and old, has no rivals. Once more, I come to you to thank you. This year, we were concerned about the Fun Fest because the construction had necessarily limited the amount of space we could dedicate to our annual bazaar. I should have known that you would come through no matter what!

Renovation News and The Year of the Priest

Our church looks pretty sad: the front is gone, the sides are partially demolished, and a construction fence is all around. However, the renovation is in full swing. The foundations are already being poured in and any day construction of the bell tower will begin. It is exciting to see how quickly progress continues: in no time, we will be able to see what the finished project will look like, at least from the outside. I can hardly wait until the sound of our bells will proclaim to everyone that the Holy Mass is about to begin. St. John Vianney, one of my favorite heroes, tied the sound of the church bell to the priesthood with the following thought:

Thank You School Families

About three dozen school parents, children, grandparents, and staff members volunteered their time, talent, and treasure to help with last weekend’s funfest. I wanted to take this chance to offer them my sincere thanks for all they do for Holy Trinity Parish and their dedication to the Funfest. Thanks to these current and recent Holy Trinity Catholic School families and staff:
