Every year for the past nine years, the Religious Education Department at Holy Trinity has grown. It is so encouraging to see so many children in the parish, and so many of them are participating every week in our Sunday and Wednesday catechism classes. For many years now, Nicoletta MacKenzie has been the Director of both the children and adult programs. Now her “day job,” as she calls it, is demanding even more of her time, and she has reluctantly decided to let go of the children’s program. She will still be in charge of Adult Education: in addition to organizing the R.C.I.A, where she team-teaches with me, she will help me expand the programs that we already have.
Who will lead the children’s program? I am most pleased to announce that our parishioner, Cecarita Ortivez, has agreed to pick up the challenge, and Nicoletta has agreed to help her until she settles into the routine. Most of you already know Cecarita. She has been a Eucharistic Adoration coordinator since the very beginning, as well as being a committed adorer and substitute. She has been a catechist for the Sunday afternoon children Religious Education, is a much-loved grandmother of five beautiful grandchildren and is a long-time member of the parish. Help me welcome her to the parish staff! I know that under her care our children catechetical program will thrive, even though her busy life only allows her to work part-time for the parish.
Questions for the children’s religious education program will still go through the parish office at 303-428-3594. If our able assistant, Luz, cannot answer the question, she will take messages and forward them to Cecarita. Thank you Cecarita for your generous service to the parish!
